Only 2 hours on the new express way from Bangkok’s international airport is the paradise beach Mae Phim. Here you will find a beautiful seafront promenade that stretches around Mae Phim Beach, a find sandy beach with crystal-clear water and a genuine Thai environment. Along the coast is the famous tourist isle Koh Samet and it’s only half hour ride to shopping centers in Rayong and Klaeng.
The still unexplored paradise Mae Phim has for a long time been known amongst Thais themselves. The crown price of Thailand has one of his big houses here, and there are several hotels like Novotel, many restaurants, and the beach is a popular place for Thais themselves at week ends.
Mae Phim is sometimes named Laem Mae Phim, Leam stands for “cape”. In Thai we find the word Koh “isle” (those Koh Samet, Koh Chang), Mae Phim is a pearl that up to now is proportionately unexplored in spite of being close to Bangkok.
Here you can really relax and drop all your stress behind you. The beach is long with fine-grained sand and the water a tempting blue and very warm. But if you don’t want to be lazy in the sun all the time there are plenty of other things to do. Why not try snorkeling or even learn to dive. Go for a ride around Mae Phim on a horse is another adventure you can experience.
Diving
The waters around Mae Phim are very good for diving. Clear water and a tropical, sparkling world awaits you. So take a snorkeling trip and experience a colourful new world of Thailand
Restaurants
Along the beach road you can find about 50 different restaurants which cater to locals and tourists alike. You will have a fantastic food experience from the domestic sea food kitchen. It’s a great feeling to sit under the reed roofs and experience the scent of chili, curry, and lime mixed with tropical seaside ambience. And prices are always minimal.
Market
The market place in Mae Phim is different than in the big cities with emphasis in essential daily goods as opposed to copied name brands. It’s charming place to meet the local people offering what’s needed for daily life: textile’s, tool’s, clothes, bags, etc. it’s a true experience of genuine Thailand to go strolling about the market place.
Koh Samet
Located right outside Mae Phim and Rayong is Koh Samet. This magnificent isle with chalk-white sand and swaying palm trees has some of Thailand’s best beaches. You can’t find much traffic on Koh Samet as it is classified as a national park.
White Sand Beach is the most popular, here you find bungalows and many reataurants. Take off your sandals, take a walk along the beach, eat a great sea food meal, watch the sunset and just lean back and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
Koh Man Isles
This little group of 3 isles: Koh Man Nai, Koh man Klang, Koh Man Nok have been preserved and have exception coral reefs. The smallest isle, Man Nai is only 100 meters wide it’s a sea turtle reserve that is supported by the queen of Thailand.
On Man Klang and Man Nok you will find fantastic beaches and that rent equipment for snorkeling, sailing, and canoe trips
Bahn Phe
The small fishing village has great sea food and some nice shopping. Boats go from here regularly to the isles around as Koh Samet.
Klaeng
14 km from Mae Phim you find the small city Kleng that has markets, shopping centers, traditional shops, furniture’s, banks, hospital, etc.
Rayong
A small city that is growing fast and has all the big department store: Lotus, Carrefour, Index, Robinson, etc. Around Rayong you will find nice excursion places, going up to the mountains and walking in the jungle to discover fantastic water falls, enormous underground caves and many temples.
